SECOND CHANCES: EmptyCage

The first question I ask myself when something doesn’t seem to be beautiful is why do I think it’s not beautiful.  And very shortly you discover that there is no reason.    -John Cage

Second Chances: EmptyCage, is an experimental film exploring the live performance of “Nothingtoseeness: The Visual Art of John Cage,”  produced and directed by Jeffery T. Schultz.

The film explores the experiential nature of watching a John Cage performance piece performed by Stephen Dueweke and transferring it to film.  The film’s viewer-perspective is allowed to explore and enter the space as one might during a live performance.  The incredible hour plus performance was  part of the opening night of “Nothingtoseeness: The Visual Art of John Cage.” presented by Center Galleries, College for Creative Studies, Detroit Mi.  Additional performance contributors were, Matthew Smith on guitar and Moog synthesizer and Nicole Ross, dance.
